Sultan is in the arena, and it’s time for some dusty wrestling

Actor Salman Khan hits the bull’s eyes with the much expected first look teaser of his wrestling saga Sultan, in which he plays the title character Sultan Ali Khan. The 1.25 minute teaser features a beefed up Salman as Sultan with a moustache. The actor is seen as a charged up bull in the arena with his almost bare body, which has only a loincloth to cover up him.

The teaser, which begins with Sultan’s quote “wrestling is not a sport, it’s about fighting what lies within,” is well packed to rock the fans as the hymn ‘Khoon mein tere mitti, mitti mein tera khoon’ are playing in the background as Haryana Ka Sher, Sultan Ali Khan steps into the akhada, the wrestling arena. Sultan is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced under the banner Yash Raj Films. The movie has Anushka Sharma as the leading lady, Randeep Hooda as Sultan’s coach and Amit Sadh as Sultan’s brother.

According to reports, Sultan depicts the personal and professional lives of a wrestler Sultan Ali Khan, who is fondly called as Sultan and Haryana Ka Sher by his fans. Salman underwent intensive training sessions in Indian style wresting under Coach Larnell Stoval to perfect his moves in the arena. The real life wresting tournaments popular in North Indian states are recreated for the movie and those tournaments play important role in the plot.

Sultan is trending in the social media platforms for various reasons. For Salman fans, it’s the first time their Sallu Bhai dons the role of a wrestler. The movie also brings together Salman and Anushka for the first time. Reports suggest that Anushka is not merely playing the love interest of Sultan, as the actor went through wresting sessions along with Salman Khan. Salman will appear in two looks in the movie, one of which is a clean shaven young man and the other one is a beefed up, matured man with a pointed moustache.

The movie is the third directorial venture of director Ali Abbas Zafar, who had made movies like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Gunday. Sultan will lock horns with Shahrukh Khan’s Raees, in which the actor will appear as a bootlegger, on this Eid.
