What’s in the oven? The secrets behind Enthiran 2.0
Whenever director Shankar takes on a project, there will be an iron curtain and tsunami of speculative reports all over. His upcoming magnum opus, Enthiran 2.0 starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead is of no exemption. The movie is trending in the online platforms ever since it was announced and last in the line is some curious, on the set photographs of Akshay Kumar, who appears as a deadly antagonist in the movie.
Akshay Kumar was seen in a freakish avatar in the pictures came out from Enthiran 2.0 location at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. The Khiladi star looked like a crow and the scenes were set in an Indian Super League Match. Even though the makers don’t reveal a word about the character, sources suggest that Akshay plays a half-crow, who fall victim of a backfired scientific experiment. The actor sports long eye bushes, grey hair and a feathered leather jacket in the leaked pictures.
Rajnikanth and Amy Jackson play the lead roles in Enthiran 2.0, which is expected to beat Bhahubhali as the most expensive movie with a whooping budget of 3.5 billion. Shankar, who is notorious for masking all the details of his movie until release, plans to make a superhero movie with a backdrop of a triangular love story and has its inspirational origin in the epic Ramayana.
Earlier, Hollywood superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger agreed to play the role of antagonist, but later stepped back due to remuneration issues. Reports suggest that, Arnold had demanded a huge Rs. 100 Crore paycheck for his role and the makers of the movie dropped the deal because it was too much for an Indian movie.
Enthiran was India’s most expensive motion picture until Bhahubhali replaces it to catch the top spot. The movie was a huge hit in Hindi as Robot and Telugu as Robo. It has also earned Shankar and team two National Awards, one for Best Special Effects and another for Best Production Design.
AR Rahman composes music for Enthiran 2 and Nirah Shah handles the cinematography department. Muthuraj is the art director and make-up department, which is very crucial in the sci-fi flick, is taken care of by Hollywood expert Sean Foot from Weta workshop. The mammoth project is bankrolled by Lyca International.
